Review :
Coin World or Numismatic News?
Coin World or Numismatic News? I've been getting both for the past year and Coin World is clearly better. The news coverage is deeper, the letters to the editor are more insightful and it has more advertising. If you can afford both, get both, but if you have to choose, buy Coin World.

an essential publication
It is hard to decide where to start. I have been reading (and occasionaly writing for) Coin World for something over forty years. The main focus of CW is United States coins. Therefore it is less essential if you are interested in exclusively or primarily in world material or medals/tokens. Still you will find information on this type of material too. With an issue every single week, quality can vary, but overall it is excellent. There is no week goes by that I do not find something interesting or useful (usually both) in my Coin World. I now read it exclusively on my iPad. electronic subscriptions are very inexpensive.

Difficult to deliver undamaged
First of all, let me say this is a good publication. My complaint lies in how Coin World is printed and delivered to my residence. Coin world is printed on a flimsy newspaper grade paper and is rarely delivered to my mailbox undamaged. The publisher used to print Coin World on better stock but I'm assuming economic pressures have forced them to use this format. I now receive approximately every other issue and some issues arrive in USPS "body-bags" with a sorry-for-the-damage message on them. My last issue only contained the first page!
Coin World has offered its readers to deliver its publication in a plastic bag for an ADDITIONAL FEE to aviod damage. My question is this: Is Coin world putting an undeliverable item into the postal system (which may not meet the USPS requirement for undamaged deliverablity due to the automated sorting machinery used) and trying to extort an extra fee from its subscribers to cover the poorer print quality OR is the USPS culpable for not being...

This magazine comes out once a week...
This magazine comes out once a week so you will stay up-to-date with the hobby. One of the features of this magazine is the monthly price guide. This is a supplement to the actually magazine you get. In the price guide, tons of US coin prices are listed. This price guide is a retail price guide, not wholesale.

Another one of my favorite things about the magazine is the weekly mintage page. On this page all the mintages for what the mint has made in 2005 are listed. Wondering how many silver proof sets were made? What about the Kansas state quarter? You can find the answer of all of these in the magazine.

Now to the articles. I personally find them okay. They are not bad and some are very interesting, but I would not say that they are outstanding. They do cover a diverse array of topics. A plus about the articles is they will keep you up-to-date. Was there a major auction or a large show? A record price or a major rarity discovered? You will find...
Numismatic News
I've been a collector and dealer before retiring. I have always been confident about info in N.N. Articles are well written and timely.Even though i'm no longer a dealer,i like to keep updated on the market.

Geared to the collector/investor so lots of great data!
I subscribe to this because I like the fact that it has all of the up to date info on US mint programs, machinations, mintage reports and auction gossip with results, etc. It also has a very active classifieds section and super coin dealer ads. In addition there is the obligatory spec piece on overlooked and undervalued coins/coin segments, etc. which probably don't amount to a hill of beans actually but always get one to thinking about the particular coin/coin segment highlighted in the particular article. An oddly compelling part of the magazine is the letters section where very opinionated people tend to bash each other over the course of two or three issues. It is a lively and engaging part of the magazine-newsweekly that would be sorely missed if it were ever cut out. Also there is often a guest opinion or two from some of the coin world's heavy weights and/or notables. Every other issue or so there is an insert that lists either upcoming auctions and coin shows, or a table...

This specific thing delivers surpass the anticipation, this has become a fantastic upgrade on myself, The concept showed up securely as well as speedily The Magazine Antiques

The Magazine Antiques brings you the fascinating worldsof architecture, interior design, and fine and decorative artsfrom the dawn of civilization to the modern era. You'll learn about private collections and museums around the world that highlight the latest trends in collectingand decorating with antiques.

Review :
The Magazine Antiques
This is an informative magazine for antiquarians and persons interested in interior design and Decorative Arts. The articles are well-written and accompanied by good photographs and illustrations. It is a pleasure to read and you will come away from it each time learning something new that is worth remembering.

THE DISCERNING READER
This beautiful magazine is in itself a work of art. The quality of every page and bits of information is fascinating.I see the art, the homes and read every word including the ads. I first discovered this gem in London many years ago and now it is in my home and very welcome at that.

Not for everyone; very high end/high priced Antiquing
I thought this magazine would be full of pages about Antiques with pictures, explanations of the items and possible values. I found it had too much advertising, not enough about Antiques/Antiquing for my taste. It has very high quality/high priced antiques, so if this is what you collect or are interested in this is for you. The printing is lovely. I was looking more for antiques like you might acidentally find, not the ones you have to mortgage your home to own! Others may love this magazine but I didn't. Cancelled this magazine.

OLD CARS PRICE GUIDE is the nation?s most respected authority for pricing antique and collectible automobiles. The extensive price-guide section covers makes and models of domestic cars, from AMC to Willys, from model years 1901 to 1998. Also included are light-duty trucks and selected makes of imported cars. Cars are valued in six conditions ? from ?Excellent? down to ?Parts Car.? Also includes columns and features on collectible cars.

Review :
One only
This magazine can drive car collectors nutty. That being said, however, we have to realize that it's all that out there that counts. The Editor/Publisher could add more "rare" factory models (say, 1955 - 1975), and add more definitive optional equipment listings, but that might use up to much space. I'll keep getting it.

Bait and Switch
First, the picture is incorrect for the Price Guide. I guess this should have been my first clue. The problem is with the print and Kindle edition bundle. Amazon indicates that you can get both the print and Kindle version for your purchase. Unfortunately, it's only after you make the purchase that you are told the Kindle version is only available for the Kindle Fire. So, I was left holding the bag on this one. It would be nice if Amazon was upfront with their product. I was very disappointed in Amazon.

Too Slim, Needs coverage of 1985+ cars
The prior issues had more information on a longer span of year models. Was once the best guide. Now it is not maintained well.

Review :
A Great Magazine For The Music Enthusiast
Goldmine is a music magazine that caters to record collectors. The cover stories and articles deal with all types of music (rock, r & b, pop, country, jazz, reggae, punk, alternative, etc.) with the greatest emphasis on artists who were popular in the '60s and '70s. Recent cover stories include interviews with surviving members of the Grateful Dead, the Rolling Stones, AC/DC, the Four Seasons, and the Dave Clark 5's lead singer Mike Smith. There are also annual issues devoted to Elvis Presley and the Beatles.
Each issue of Goldmine contains reviews on recent cd releases (new product and reissues/collections). There are also country and jazz sections that contain interviews with vintage artists (recent country interviews include Bobby Bare, Guy Clark, and Merle Haggard) and cd reviews. The country section also provides helpful info like upcoming tv appearance and cd release dates, while the jazz section offers esoteric essays from jazz historian Carlo Wolff. Dahl's Digs...
Great Magazine for the Vinyl Nuts!
I've been collecting vinyls for 6 years now. I only recently discovered this magazine and subscribed imediately. There are a lot of great infor about artists of all kinds, record collecting and venues for finding them. The front page always has a frame worthy photo. It is a great added addition to a fun hobby.

Intelligent Musical Guide
Finally, A musical magazine that is not mired down in sophmoric humor for stoned college kids. One that actually focuses on the integrity of music for its reviews, delves into the deep history of artists and their albums with great research. It does weigh a bit heavy on music pre 1980 but that is to be expected due to the age of most of the writers. A great resource for those who are collectors of vinyl, and cds; although they could use more information of what is collectible and give more prices in each edition. While you won't get those glossy photos of jessica simpson barely clothed, you will enjoy insightful writing on the music and career of musicians both popular and obscure. I highly reccomend this for music lovers.

Early American Life is the lead source for information on early American home style, antiques and decorations, traditions, architecture and history. The magazine both educates and entertains, and offers an annual Directory of Traditional American Crafts and a special Holiday Issue.

Review :
The best choice
The best magazine choice for those interested in period furnishings, decor, and culture, and wishing to emulate the same today. This is not a magazine about jacuzzis - but about history. In addition to interesting and inspiring features, Early American Life is a forum for artisans to advertise their skills and wares, equally valuable to readers.

Always and forever excellent
This magazine never seems to run out of interesting articles with wonderful accompanying pictures. It's always fun and enlightening to pour over its contents.

Early American Life inspires me!
My mother subscribed to EAL for years and I recently came across an old copy and realized how much I had enjoyed the magazine. When I discovered that it was still being published I subscribed and the first issue just arrived this week. It is still a delightful magazine for the those interested in by gone ways and antiques.
